Revelation

I realized how stupid it is to have 10 new year's resolutions.  I mean, each one of them takes substatial amount of work, and it's unrealistic for me to achieve all of them.

Instead, I should break them down to 3~4 at a time, and have quarterly goals instead.  I think I can bring about 3 changes a quarter.

anyways, I haven't uploaded pictures in a while, though that is the point of this blog (b/c facebook picture quality is horrendous).  Enjoy:

Are these things kinda played out? may be.

end to you twit face

If you don't know what that is, it's a joke from Conan O'Brien:

"in the year 3000... youtube, twitter, and facebook merge to create a super time-wasting site called "You Twit Face."

I should really stop.  It's wasting too much of my time.

timmy

so I can say whatever the hell I want about timmy, and he won't be able to comment on it (i have no idea why he can't comment here, but he can't for whatever reason).  And this is about good time to say something really funny and/or insulting about timmy, but nothing is coming to me and I'm not about to waste time trying to be clever on this meaningless ordeal.  So if you have any ideas, feel free.  He can't talk back.

oh yeah, I was supposed to write about this

Many hours ago, or the entry before this one, I imported a picture because I wanted to say something about it.  I changed my mind, and decided to write about something, but I didn't.  I came back, and after writing a completely incoherent entry about xanga, I remembered what I was really supposed to write about.  Here we go:

Couple days ago, I had a chance to have lunch with Lillian.  She asked me a simple question, "do you like classical music?"

I shrugged, and said something of this nature, "not really."

"do you have any favorite composers?"

"well, I do like mozart, chopin, and listz..."

and we went on but the rest of the conversation is not important.  What is important is that I was compelled to say "not really," or "I don't have an opinion," to the question, "Do you like classical music."  Why?  because I'm ignorant.  How can you like or dislike something that you don't really know anything about?  At best, I can only sort of conclude to dislike like it because classical music has pretty much been omnipresent all my life, yet it did not interest me.

I mean, I do enjoy chopin quite a bit, but I can't say that I love classical music just because I love one composer.  It's like saying, "I love impressionism, I love Monet.  Other impressionists?  I don't know about them." Or something like, "I love Lakers.  The only player I know is Kobe though."

You cannot say you're a fan of the entire team when you only know of one player.  True, you can't possibly know everything about the team, like Gasol's social security number, but you should at least know the starting line up, most of the bench players, and the team's history before you can say you love a team.

Anyways, I was quite satisfied with the way I answered Lillian's question.  But all this makes me realize my ignorance.  Let's end with a quote from Oscar Wilde

"It is only an auctioneer who can equally and impartially admire all schools or Art."

...

...

...

oh, and do I look like a person that would enjoy classical music?  I get that a lot, but I don't have an opinion about it, though I usually prefer something more improvisational.  I mean, I do say I like jazz, but honestly, I like something slightly more structured than twenty minutes of improvisation.

I would love to...

I would love to save all my xanga entries somewhere somehow, because I'm sorta afraid that it might just shut down someday.  Does anyone have suggestions on how I might go about this task?  Some of the entries are ridiculously stupid, but I still want to keep them.

I was always adamant about making a blog/social network things until I finally gave into xanga in 2003, and I guess I've gone berserk ever since (facebook, cyworld, cyworld blog, blogspot, picasa, xanga...)

Anyways, here's my first ever blog/social network entry:

Hmmm, After contemplating for a while, I decided to make a xanga page.  Kinda Shim haes if I think about it, but it should be interesting.

Let's see- yesterday, I went to work on my thermodynamics project.  However, we both didn't know what was going on, so after 30 minutes of silently staring at the book, wondering if any of us knew anything, we decided to go home, learn more about thermodynamics, and then start talking about it afterwards.  So today, I spent about 9 hours eating, surfing on the web, playing guitar, and making xanga.  I'm so proud of myself.

Samonim called me today, informed me that I might start teaching highschool students at church starting this July.  I'm very excited as well as nervous.  Pray for me people.

Okay, get this - I was downloading the movie anger management from kazaa (kazaa lite actually).  I was downloading it from 8 different users - at 2kb/sec - and I have cable connection.  I was patient enough to download this for nearly two weeks.  After countless hours and days of being annoyed, I finally finished downloading the movie, to find out that the movie is actually Mr. Deeds, not anger management.  Soooo annoying.

News of the day: N.Y. phil harmonic is moving to the Carnegie hall  !!!      source: npr  (national public radio)

Comment: couldn't care less.

Jae- keep on working on those bar chords, and thanks for helping me out with xanga.
I guess this is enough for an opener.  If I post anything during the next week, that means that I'm not studying for my finals.

why is this picture here?  because this was my original entry.  I came back about 10 hours later and I didn't feel like saying what I was about to say.

11am

It's only 11 and I've been awake for 5 hours already.  I've already ate twice, walked 3 miles, washed up, finally bought an organizer at a non ripoff price, studied a bit, and I am currently reading (and have been reading) stephen's blog for about 30 minutes now.  I guess I wanted to say something encouraging, but not sound too cliche at the same time.  I failed.  Anyways, I've got a lot of crap to do, so I'll start off the afternoon with a drink.  just kidding, though I am tempted.

new years resolution check, 100 thousand visitors on cyworld.

It's almost 9:30, my bed time.  I shall now go over my new years resolution list to see how I'm doing on my resolutions:

☑  1.  Walk three miles right after I wake up.
☑  2.  Wake up at 5.  Do I really wake up at 5?  no, but I am waking up at seven.  I knew I wouldn't be able to get up at 5 immediately, but I'm gradually getting there.
☑  3.  Plan my day as I walk, jot it down on a planner, and utilize it everyday.  I still need to buy a planner, but I did go to staples and near fainted at how expensive they were.  I usually buy them at sometime besides January, and since it's much cheaper then, I'll wait until Feb. rolls around.  Until then, good ol' notebook it is.
4.  Limit internet usage to hour a day, unless there's something super important.  (watching 1박2일 or snsd does not count as super important).  Sunday is a cheat day.  Fail.
☑  5.  Read a book a week, like I used to.  Nearly done with one.
☑  6.  Exercise one more time before going to sleep.  3 more miles + sit ups.
☑  7.  Study a language, hour a day.  Yo hablo castellano un poco.
☑  8.  One fast food a month, and get down to 145 pounds, which is my medically recommended ideal body weight.  Looking good.
☐  9.  Don't be a jackass.  Be more caring/attentive and make people around you feel more special.  Fail  I really should work on this more.
☑ 10.  Print this out and post it on my wall.  Done.  I should read it everyday as well.

So it's actually lookin' pretty good so far.

...

On a side note, my Korean Blog, www.cyworld.fredpaik.com, is nearing the 100,000 mark, which makes me somewhat happy.  I'm at 97,000, but I think three thousand people will visit my site by end of January.  Not too shabby considering that I've had this site for about a year and a half, and cyworld doesn't count search engine hits.  Plus, very very very few of my friends actually visit my korean blog.

Lots of "power bloggers" has over couple million visitors.  It's hard to emulate that kind of track record with strictly photography based content, but hopefully, I'll get there someday.
